T-Clip saves time, hands when putting up fence
An innovative wire-gripping device, called the Gripple T-Clip, off ers a revolutionary way to start or terminate a fence. It replaces the time and trouble of knotting or stapling wires at the end post with a fast, simple twist and push action.
Depending on the version, it works with various types of wire — plain wire, electric fence, stock netting and high tensile barbed wire.
The thumb-size metal device features two hooks — one facing up and one facing down — on one end. Inside is a channel into which the wire is inserted, and a spring-loaded roller that locks the wire in place.
"By eliminating hand-tying, the T-Clip lets you secure the fence in seconds, rather than minutes," says Tim Caton, CEO of Gripple, Inc. "It's at least four times faster than knotting."
He describes the process this way:
- Simply twist and hook the T-Clip onto the topmost line wire.
- Wrap the netting or barbed wire around the end post.
- Feed the tail wire back into the T-Clip channel.
- Repeat on all wires.
- Snip the tail wires to fi nish the job.
"Contractors like the T-Clip because it saves their hands and because they can put up many more yards of fence in a day than they could tying or stapling the wire at the end posts," he says.
"It's ideal for all types of stock fence, especially for sheep netting and awkward horse fence where space is tight, as well as tall game fence. Also, it holds wire more securely than hand knotting and will withstand up to 440 pounds of tension load."
Caton suggests tensioning the fence at a roll join using a Gripple Plus wire joiner/tensioner and Gripple tensioning tool, also available through Gripple.
The T-Clip is made entirely of corrosion- resistant materials - a zinc alloy body, a stainless steel spring and, for ultimate grip on hard wire, a ceramic roller. "The T-Clip is guaranteed for the life of the wire," he reports.
The device is available in two versions. The standard T-Clip will handle 14 to 10-gauge smooth wire, and 15.5 gauge dual strand high-tensile barbed wire, commonly known as Gaucho wire. The larger T-Clip Barb is designed for larger gauge dual strand barbed wire.
"High-tensile Gaucho wire is the toughest on hands," Caton says. "Contractors who install it really like the T-Clip for the ease and speed of tying off this type of wire."
In addition to the T-Clip, Gripple, Inc., manufactures a wide range of time and labor-saving products for installing and maintaining wire used in fencing and trellising.
The T-Clip can be used in conjunction with the Gripple Joiner/Tensioner, a fastener which allows you to join, tension, or repair wire fencing in seconds and the Gripple Torq Tensioning Tool. This tool not only tensions wire in conjunction with the Gripple Joiner/ Tensioner, but regulates the load applied for consistent results and maximum wire life.
